Thinking about switching careers after all this

You know what this whole experience has made me realize? I really don't want to keep doing this kind of work forever. Been a mover for about eight years, loved the physical aspect of it when I was younger, but after throwing my back out last year and now dealing with this ongoing shoulder issue from a different job, I'm starting to think my body's just not built to last in this industry. I'm only 34 and already popping pain pills just to get through a normal day, and the workers comp process has been such a headache that it's made me rethink everything. The funny thing is, while I've been off work recovering and doom-scrolling through all this legal stuff, I started looking into retraining programs and found out that in New York there might be some options for vocational rehab through the comp board if your injury prevents you from doing your old job. I've been researching Workers Compensation Attorney Law to understand if I qualify for that kind of assistance, because honestly the idea of learning something new, maybe in an office or even a trade that's less punishing on the body, sounds pretty appealing right now. Has anyone here successfully used workers comp to pay for retraining or school? How does that whole process work, and did you need a lawyer to push for it or was it something the insurance offered on their own?
