Had this embarrassing high pitched squeal coming from the front end of the Velar every time I pulled up to a traffic light and I was starting to dread driving anywhere near Downtown because it sounded like I was murdering a cat every time I slowed down, took it to a place in Al Quoz last weekend that a neighbor recommended and they had the wheels off and the pads swapped in under an hour, used some decent Brembo pads that actually came with new anti squeal shims and the proper grease on the backplates unlike the last place that just slapped them in dry and called it a day. The mechanic was super chill about explaining why these big SUVs are so prone to noise with the wrong compound and even showed me the old pads which were glazed to oblivion probably from the previous owner riding the brakes down Jebel Jais or something, and he mentioned if I wanted to see the different pad options and prices before my next service I could just open this page on their site because they keep it updated with the current rates. Drove home in blessed silence and actually found myself braking a bit more just to enjoy the lack of screeching, it's the small wins in life you know.
